In on consignment is another lustrous Burgundy Mist Fender Contemporary Telecaster from the Fujigen Factory in Japan. This time in an HH configuration! The Fender Contemporary Telecaster marked the tail end of Fender's first "Made in Japan" era, bridging the gap between the sale of the Fender name from CBS in March 1985 and the establishment of Fender's new US plant. Following the sale, Fender's production facilities in Fullerton were not included, leaving Japanese manufacturers as the primary source for Fender instruments until 1987 when the Corona, California plant came online. However, this new facility was initially ill-equipped for large-scale production, mainly focusing on vintage re-issues, producing a mere five guitars a day.

The instrument boasts a distinctive modern design that combines elements of a Telecaster body with a Floyd Rose inspired tremolo and modern wiring concepts. Instead of a standard Fender 'Vintage' tremolo system, it features a half-locking System 3 with a separate locking nut and fine-tuner bridge. This guitar came out of the case in perfect tune. The high output humbuckers are both able to be coil tapped with the mini switch located near the Tone knob.

Overall, this ultra unique Telecaster is in very good condition according to Reverb standards, displaying minor finish chipping and some dings. The most noticeable is a spot on the side of the neck at the 3rd fret but the spot appears to have been rounded and smoothed over time so it doesn't impede play. This guitar is all original and comes with the tremolo arm which might benefit from a little plumbers as it is a little loose. After some new strings and a setup, this guitar is a blast play!
