1987 Ernie Ball Music Man Sabre Bass - Natural

This late 80s MusicMan Sabre has some swagger with the 34" scale/HH pickup complement!

This all-original beauty (and beast) has a P-Bass style feel with a fierce set of humbuckers wired to a 3-way pickup selector and Music Man's beloved Active Treble/Bass circuit. This bass sounds great  picked or played with fingers over a multitude of styles. Cutting the treble and bass and turning up the amp offers a noise free, vintage growl; whereas hyping the frequency spectrum ends with the onboard preamp works great for getting the most drive out of your pedals and amp, or when you want a dramatic slap sound that really stands out.

The bass is in overall great shape, bearing all the typical wear you would see on a well-loved 35 year old bass. Some buzz here and there, but nothing that interferes with our enjoyment of this rugged-yet-forward-thinking instrument! The discoloration on the back of the body is natural to the wood- a surprise to us upon taking it out of the case, and remarkable in its charm! Countered by the beautiful bits of flame and birdseye in the neck, we consider this harmony of elegance and inelegance par for the course on this unique, do-it-all bass. The frets look good with about 60-70% life left. There is some indentation present through about the 7th fret and the pickups show some wear from the strings, but nothing is getting in the way of this big mac bass! The original string mute is included, as well as one original switch tip and one original knob.

The Sabre basses never quite attracted like the rugged simplicity of the Stingray, but this underdog is waiting in the winds for it's next chance to shine!
