Powers Electric is a young but storied electric guitar brand, the namesake and brainchild of Andy (you guessed it) Powers.
This sleek offset model brings to mind a number of classic models like the Jazzmaster and the non-reverse Firebird, with touches of Gretsch and some of that old 60s Japan vibe. Practically everything on the guitar is custom-made from the unique FF42 pickups to the revolutionary Camtail vibrato tailpiece. The Epoxy molded plastics and Ebony nut and bridge really bring this model home with elegance and efficiency. Beyond just looks and custom appointments, you're probably asking yourself by now- "Yeah, but how does it sound? How does it play?". And the answer to that is, yes. The action has spring and life to it, fretting effortlessly and evenly up and down the board, like the response you'd get out of a really good Telecaster. The sound is tight, midrange focused with a P90/JM tone, and dead quiet. Pushing an amp with these pickups cuts through the mix with punch, and laser-accurate intonation. Clean we like to roll back the tone control and let the b9 chords fly. (For those of you who don't like math, this guitar excels at jazz).
This is the first Powers in the shop yet, and we hope it's not the last!
