The Vox AD60VTX combo amp was unveiled at the 2003 Summer NAMM Music Trade Show in Nashville, TN, replacing its predecessor, the AD60VT, which had only been introduced two years prior. Both models were initially offered concurrently. The AD60VTX featured significant improvements over the AD60VT, notably replacing the Celestion 7080 12" speaker with the Celestion/Vox "Neo Dog," which utilized a neodymium magnet structure, reducing weight without sacrificing tone or power handling capacity. The AD60VTX also had a plywood cabinet compared to the medium density fiberboard cabinet of the AD60VT. Another notable addition was the speaker impedance selector switch, allowing the AD60VTX to operate at full 60-watt power with four, eight, or sixteen ohm speaker loads. The design of the AD60VTX cabinet followed the proportions of the 1960s Vox AC-15 but featured a closed back, distinguishing it from its predecessor.
