1963 Fender Jazzmaster - Refinished Lake Placid Blue Body

El Diablo proudly welcomes this breathtaking 1963 Fender Jazzmaster to the floor. An iconic model that has found new life across many decades- from 60s surf, to Tom Verlaine in the 70s- by the time the 90s rolled around its popularity had been revived time and time again by bands like Sonic Youth, The Cure, Dinosaur Jr, and My Bloody Valentine. Original examples are highly coveted, especially pre-CBS models.

The body has been refinished, and player friendly Mastery hardware attached but, no worries- the originals are included. The neck is really something special; Brazilian board, clay dots, original frets and a beautifully aged original LP blue headstock! The frets feel great, probably 50-60% of their original height with very little indentation/visible wear. The new bone nut was added to accommodate for a plane/recrown. The original string tree seems to be missing, one of the very few pieces not original and not included with this remarkable axe.

It is incredibly fun to play, and has a beautiful tone to it. The refin was done very well. There is plenty of resonance and transfer from the neck to body- it almost sounds and feels as if it were never refinished at all. Aging and matching the finish to the headstock would not be incredibly hard to do which would really bring the whole guitar together.

A really unique aspect to this guitar is the original "eyeglass" case which was only produced for a couple of years in the early 60s. The case alone can fetch nearly $2,000 so this is really a beautiful combination for a collector. The case has a replaced, newer leather handle and has some signs of use. We would rate the case as "Very Good" condition.
