From Benson Amps:

We wanted to hit a different price point with the Nathan Junior amp…instead of our usual Mercury transformers/Jupiter capacitors combination we found some domestically produced components that sound fantastic and fit the form factor better. For 5 watts in a tiny package, it sounds shockingly big. We think it’s the perfect grab and go recording/ small gig combo.

  • 1 x JJ 6V6 power tube, 1 x 12AX7, 1 x 12DW7

  • 5 watts

  • Speaker outputs: 1 x 8 ohm

  • Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb

  • Reverb is all wet at the highest setting, allowing for creative use in tandem with other amps

  • 13.5”W 13.5”H 8.25”D 20 lbs

  • Point to point construction on terminal strips - no circuit, eyelet or turret board

  • Mallory 150 capacitors

  • Baltic Birch speaker cabinet

  • 10” Celestion Greenback

El Diablo’s take:

The Nathan Jr is sweet and warm at lower volumes, but it doesn’t take much for it to sing with a rich overdriven voice that is dynamic and touch sensitive.  The Nathan Jr is a quieter 5 watts, but what it lacks in volume, it makes up for in tone!  This little beauty truly shines under a mic.  We tried everything from a Royer R121 to a Sennheiser e609, and we could not get a bad tone out of it.  Wholeheartedly recommended for those of you with a home studio or home recording setup!
