Here's something you don't see everyday- a Magnatone clone! True to form with a stinging clean tone, pitch tremolo, ambient spring reverb, and a multi-speaker array.
Handwired by Garry Croteau, this Juke Amp fill a specific void and scratch a somewhat uncommon itch. Though they are a thing of the past now, you can grab one of these at quite a steep discount from it's original owner. Surprising given the amount of work that went into these... The vibrato offers AM and FM tremolos which are speed matched, and you are able to dial in together- a VERY cool feature. The tone of the amp is tall and fat with a 2 x 10" and 1 x 12" Weber Alnico speaker set.
Seems to be about 20W of power being pulled from 2 x EL34 power tubes, with a GZ34 rectifier tube, and 5 x 12AX7 preamp tubes rounding out the rest of the array. However, the amp seems to be wired ultra-linear in triode mode according to our amp tech. The Pentode/Triode switch is not wired into the circuit, so it's not quite cranking the full 20W out that it is able to. It always bears the character of a slightly overdriven amp, sometimes even imperceptibly, so don't go looking for black panel glassy clean tones here. On the plus side what you do get is an amp that sounds like its always in the sweet spot. Even at bedroom recording levels! The Pentode/Triode switch can be wired in upon request at the expense of the buyer.
You will not regret having this one when you go into a studio for those extra overdubs. It's an inspiring amp that just begs you to play along to the sweet wobble and "golden era" tone, and multiple speaker types means instantly different tones just by simply moving the microphone.
Very Good condition.
