Tone King founder Mark Bartel goes his own way with his new Bartel Amps line based out of Baltimore, MD.
After finally parting ways with Tone King in 2016, Mark started in on creating a new breed of finely tuned, high fidelity guitar amplifiers for the discerning guitarist. We'll even say "picky". The Starwood model is the arguable flagship at 28W with "innovative" Master Volume control- essentially acting as a Master volume and an attenuator simultaneously. His "multi-voice" preamp design is really one of the first of its kind that we have seen. Dial the bass and treble back and you get a true Plexi tone, with a focused midrange that crunches up beautifully with humbuckers. As you dial the bass and treble up, you start to hear more black panel Fender style tones, and all the way up you have the power and punch of a HiWatt circuit. The reverb is lovely, and footswitchable!
Top it all off with a magnificently executed cabinet and a Fane AlNiCo speaker, and you have what could arguably be the pinnacle of professional tier guitar amplifiers. This thing resonates and fills space like the body of acoustic guitar. Pure tone, and musical beyond belief.
