Peavey has a cult-ish following regarding their 70s-90s Made in USA line of amps. From the VTM to the Butcher to the Firebass to the Classic Chorus; all of them fantastic sounding, workhorse amplifiers that above everything were LOUD. \m/
The VTM feels and responds a lot like a 5150 or a Valve King with a juicy high gain preamp, and supported by the thunderous bark of American bottles in the power section. The eye immediately gravitates toward the series of dip switches on the front panel which allows the user to tailor the gain and frequency response of the amp in an immediate and satisfying manner.
Along with a low level FX loop and enough speaker outputs to power a horde of cabinets- the VTM is as relevant as ever with the continued celebration of doom and sludge metal, as well as the faculties of flexibility in gear.
