2019 Gibson Custom Shop '58 Mahogany Explorer Reissue - Split Headstock
Here's one you don't see every day!
This Custom Shop '58 Mahogany Explorer is a real piece of work- and a work of art! Sporting a natural Nitro finish, gold hardware, and a rare split headstock, this guitar really echoes the original mid-century art deco sentiments of the model before it became adopted and re-imagined by metal heads and companies like BC Rich and Dean. Many daring guitarists have appreciated the Explorer model for its shred-worthy upper register access, balanced weight, and forward thinking aesthetics (which weren't so well received at the time of release). You would see a guitar very similar to this one in the hands of The Edge, Allen Collins, and Clapton- but even they didn't have the ultra cool 'V' headstock!
The guitar plays like a dream even with the super chunky 50s neck. Absolutely 0 fret wear, and an immaculate glossy finish all over- this one was kept safely in its case for most of its life. We can't say it would have had the same treatment here- it's way too fun to play! Light aging from Gibson dulls the hardware and finish ever-so slightly for an authentic vintage vibe without going overboard on the relic train. That part is up to YOU! All adjustment points are responsive, the guitar and case are in Excellent condition- close to Mint.
Includes OHSC, COA, and case candy!
